Default Starting Problems

My 940 turbo has issues starting in the morning from a "dead start", it makes this loud annoying noise like theres something wrong with the belt(s) but the belt(s) is/are fairly new, like 6 months old. So my question is, could there be something else making that noise or is it without a doubt the belt(s), also does anyone know what belt(s) start moving/spinning when you first start the car?]

Thanks,
Jay

What sort of noise? Is it a squealing noise or a thumping noise?

All the belts should start moving when the engine starts. If one or more don't you have a problem.

HI,SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A LOOSE OR SLIPPING FAN BELT. TRY SPRAYING BELT AND PULLEY WITH A SQUIRT OF WD40 OR SIMILAR BEFORE YOU START UP IN THE MORNING. IF THIS STOPS NOISE THEN RETENSION BELT. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Better just to check the tension on the belts than spray with any type of oil.

On the longest run of each belt there should be about 5 - 10mm of downward movement when pressed with a finger at thecentre point of the run.
