86 240- sat for a long time, then started right up when needed.
It began stalling at idle, then would only run when the engine was raced or throttle was pumped- it behaved like a carbureted engine that wasn't getting enough fuel: if you tap the throttle, it will keep going, but this one is injected.
Checked the fuel pumps, and it's getting lots of fuel.
It starts, runs for a couple seconds smoothly, then stalls- I can get down the road but it will only keep going at high revs.

Check the idle air control (IAC) motor. It's supposed to bypass the throttle and provide an air intake when the throttle is closed.

 

Alternately, it could be an air leak w/ one of the vacuum hoses. I replaced a couple of hoses on mine, and the same thing happened. I then realized that I'd forgotten to reattach one of the vacuum hoses near the intake manifold.
