Default Steering rack replacement

Hey there Volvo Gurus,

Well, I thought I had fixed about everything on this car but I thought wrong. Doing some routine maintenance on the lift I noticed that oil/fluid was flowing along the inner tie rod and dripping onto the floor, and it seem to come from the plastic boot. Undoing the plastic boot from the steering rack, about half a cup of oil poured out. It is however, only on the passenger side, not both ends.

I assume this means a new steering rack? As steering racks (even refurbished ones) are a bit pricey here in Denmark, my first thought was that I would try to rebuild it but I hear that is NOT an easy task? Or is it doable?

Furthermore, are steering racks from 740's and 940's compatible? I have a 1991, 240 wagon. Also there seems to be a difference between steering racks; CAM and ZF - it has to do with the boot on the inner tie rod if I understand correctly? On my rack, the boot is fixated directly on the tie rod with a clamp, and on the steering rack with a clamp itself. (See pictures)

Kind regards
Christian

Only 240 racks will fit. How much ps Fluid do you lose? If it's a small amount, just drive the car. (old cars leak)
