Is this thing worth fixing?
I just picked up this 46k original mile, original paint 75 244 for $300. I know at this point i will need fuel pumps and to clean the fuel tank. Is this thing worth fixing to drive? It's a subjective question i know, but i know i'm gonna have to put a good amount of money into it to get it road worthy. i know it runs well on starting fluid, so i think all i'll need are fuel system components. it's been sitting for about 20 years. i feel bad junking it cuz it's so clean inside and out. Pics can be seen on my profile as well. Opinions? Thanks!

Wow, 46k on the clock and original paint! Man, if you don't want it I would jump on it. Those are CLASSIC. Yes, you are correct! That is a subjective question. Someone might say "don't dump money on an old car" but those 244s have a "CULT" following by some people. I personally think you have your self a little GEM there! For what you have in it ($300) it's not a bad deal to fix it up, plus you can always sell it to someone on here... Nice Car!

did a little more digging. i think i will hold on to it. it's a one owner car and the 1977 registration sticker is still on the windshield. it's got the original volvo push and play tape radio in the trunk and owner's/warranty manuals. even the keys are original. on the negative side, mice chewed through about 8 wires that i've found so far. there must have been a whole colony in there. there's about 3 pounds of pecan shells all over the engine comparment. time warp what's this thing worth running well/cleaned up?

If you don't have any electrical issues you can be ok. You should do a search to see if that year had any issues with the fuel injection. (74 was a nightmare). The engine is indestructable. Change all the fluids before taking it out for any extended driving. Then you should change all belts and hoses (due to age). Good luck.

That's for all the advise peeps. i'll be cleaning the fuel system this week. took the tank out to be cleaned out. it had a 20 year old gas/sludge concoction i had to drain from the tank. fuel pump fuse was blown because of a bad fuel pump.
all electrical is working now as i reconnected all the wires that were chewed through. i will change all the fluids and belts. i figure i'll be spending about $350 on it doing all the work myself (except the tank cleaning). not too bad i think.
thanks again!
