Default throttle body ???

After giving my throttle body a good cleaning I have a question. Should the butterfly plate completely seal the bore? I have enclosed a before and after picture. Also I have a low light picwith a flashhlight behind the throttle body so you can see the light sneaking past the butterfly blade.

That plate doesn't seem to seal very well does it. Did you remove the 2 screws that hold the butterfly valve in? If so you can loosen those screws, close the butterfly valve and then tighten them up, that should help to center it in the bore. The actual air that the engine uses at idle is from the IAC or idle air control valve in case you were wondering how the engine gets its air with the butterfly shut. I would try to center it up a little better then go with it. I doubt a little leakage by the valve will cause any ill running problems. A lot will, but the IAC will compensate for a little bypass by reducing the amount of air it lets in at idle.
