Default timing belt b230

Is it crucial to use the special tool or to block the flywheel in order to change the timing belt on the B230? I plan to use an impact gun on the crank pulley which I have heard will make it less important as the crank will be less likely to move. This will be the final phase of the resurrection of my 91 244, I hope. Thanks!!

No you don't have to hold the crank to replace the belt.Just make sure it is lined up before installing the belt.
