tips on installing a new water pump on a 240 wagon
hey guys. I am having some problem with my 92 wagon. The stock water pump went in july at 160,xxx and i upgraded to the 940 pump. It has the same mating plate just it flows better and has different fins. I replaced all three gaskets and it ran great for 2 months. I did notice that the top gasket (that goes into the head) looks kinda like its not seated right. This past week i noticed that the fluid level is nothing again and there is green antifreeze on the pump. I think that the top gasket didnt get seated properly and it is busted now.
OK is there any tips to getting this to not happen without taking the head off.
I take off the fan and clutch
Remove the cam belt shroud
then the alternator get loosened and pullys removed.
Then the 6 or so bolts on the pump get removed and the pump then slid straight off.
Now do i have to replace all of the gaskets or just the top one?
How much do these cost again and is there a place i can get then cheap?
Also did i forget any steps?
(i dont have my books and reference material here, im in school)
Thanks Guys
Steve
