Transmission swap 740 to 240

Transmission swap 740 to 240
I'm planning on replacing the transmission from a 1986 24 with one of a 1987 740. Are they direct replacements? What are the differences if any?

As long as they are both AW trannys you will be fine.
Also make sure both bellhousings are cut for the speed sensor. Or if yours doesn't have a speed sensor and teh 740 tranny is cut for it that will be fine.
