My 87 740 turbo with 200k miles is getting about 15 MPG on the hiway and this last week I noticed that when I go to Turbo acceleration the boost on the dash only goes to about 2:30 on the boost gauge. Anyone have any Ideas on what I might check to tryto get an increase in gas milage and what woudl be causing the turbo to notprodce the boost it should. I also noticed that the oil smells like gas. ED

 

You might have a vaccum leak or your induction hoses are collapsing during boost.Check your hoses for holes or them being really soft and slimey.

 

mine was running that same way when i bought it. it was becouse the hose clamps on the intercooler were loose and was loosing boost
