Hi all, thanks for letting me join your happy band

My wife's 740gl 1989 estate has an instrument cluster that just keeps failing

Speedo/Odometer dead despite attempts to replace cog, resolder joints etc

Tachometer jumps about like a cat on hot bricks

Has anyone successfully converted their console to accept newer aftermarket dials/gauges and have them work well? Would love to see examples and get some much needed assistance

 

That's odd... '89s usually don't fail. Have you addressed grounding points? Do the warning lights work? It's getting hard to find good used replacements anymore.
