Wow, gets me stumped! And it looks pretty straight, on the pix at least! This kind of conversion is not easy backyard job, that's for sure. It could be some Volvo internal project that never saw the light of day but the car itself got out on the street and survived. And if it is homemade, my hat off to its creator!

Is it the pic of the 240 that looks like a pick up truck?

If so then it was a home made job.

 

Also, there are TWO of them pictured, two different cars with the same 3door body BUT they have the same license plate for some reason!? And since there are at least TWO, this pretty much eliminates the homemade possibility in favor of some Volvo factory version.
