Default Volvo 740 Turbo engine swap?

For my first volvo iwas looking at a 850turbo model or t-5. but i was also looking at the 740 turbo because they are rwd. What if i bough a 740turbo and swapped the engine with an 850 turbo so i would have more power. what do you guys think? Would it be too hard and complicated and be too much time and money?

Ps would i have to buy a 2.3liter motor that came stock on the 850 turbo or could i do it with a 2.4liter and keep the turbo from the 740?

there is a guy in Europe that did this and his garage seemed like a tornado took a dump in it, well if this guy can do it in the middle of all the clutter and a few body parts, and he did a nice job, I am sure you can....

the hardest part was the welding of the cross member and welding shut an outlet on the block....don't know if it was cooling or oil or what...he has a ton of pictures of it though.

I believe it is in turbobricks.com

I only like the 740 wagons not the sedan....
I used to own a 94 850T with a nice checkered or carbon fiber dash? I got it from this rich dude here in Cal. got rid of it due to no money...everyone's out of freaking work.

^^^This. Guys on TB have swapped in white block motors for some time now. They have turbo'd the 960 V6 motors too. Also, swapping the later 16 valve, twin cam heads is quite popular. Lots of stuff you can do if you have the time, space, ability and deep enough pockets.

if i get a 740 are they easily modifiable to get more power?

The 85-89 749T's had 157 hp from the factory. Factory boost is 7-8 psi. With a manual boost control and premium gasoline, 14 psi is a very realistic boost level. Figure 8-9 hp ber pound of boost. So, that's at least 55 hp more. So, 212 hp in 10 minutes. Right there w/ Fox body Mustangs...with better handling and LESS weight. You get to do this...
