Default volvo 940 1993 turbo wagon

Hi! My wife was driving her 1993 volvo 940 turbo wagon, then all of a sudden,
she heard a poof sound and the car stopped.
The gas gage does not work, so i asked her if the car run out of gas and she said maybe.
So she put 3 gallons of gas in the tank, but the car do not start.
Could it be that the fuel pump relay went bad?
After all, the car is 20 years old.
Any suggestions, any help?
Thank you.
Hector.

it takes compression, fuel, and spark to run.

a poof on a turbo could have been an intake air pipe being blown off from turbo boost pressure? have you done a through visual inspection under the hood?

it could easily be something else too, its really hard to guess without seeing the car, running various tests. when you turn the ignition key on, the fuel pumps should run for a second or so. if so, then the fuel pump relay is probably OK.

If Pierce is correct and its a turbo hose, the car should start but have no power.

Thank you pierce.
It was a turbo hose disconnected!
I put the hose together with the turbo and jump start it and it runs.
Thank you again pierce.
