Weird Problem with stalling 89 240 dl
I have this weird problem, its seems that every couple of weeks my 240 stalls when I attempt to accelerate from the park position. This is hows it usually happens. I will crank it up (no problem) shift into either drive or reverse and accelerate, then it stalls. It will do this for about 5 minutes then after some play with the gas I can get it to accelerate, but not to much, too much causes it to stall again, then later that day its fine no problem. I cant figure out what it could be, I have read some threads about cleaning the throttle body, not sure how to do that but It cant be that hard ( Haynes manual). Is starting with the throttle body the best place to start?

possibly bad coolant temperature sensor. This lets the ecu to give the injectors a longer pulse when the engine is cold. There are two coolant temperature sensors one for the gage and one for the ecu. you want to test the ohms of the one for the ecu with the one for the gage I think they should measure the same. High ohms when cold and low ohms when warm. I suspect the coolant temp sensor for the ecu is low ohms when cold and bad.
... whether you solved this?
Mine is doing it (see thread called "Weird Electrical Problem"). The consensus so far is it's electrical, the car really is shutting itself off when shifted into drive or reverse -- but starts fine and idles in park.
