i have wheels bought but i am worried the studs wont be long enough does anyone know how hard it is to do extended studs are and if there is a video i can be linked or a an article
my second thing is the stock spike next to the studs would i just cut that to fit the the wheels like what is the proper way of doing that

if by spike, you mean the locator pin, that unscrews from the brake rotors..
do note, Volvo rims are 'hub-centered', and not 'bolt centered', so if your new wheels aren't a snug fit around the center hub, you'll need a hub centering adapter
the wheel studs are threaded into the hub behind the disk rotor, it shouldn't be hard to replace them with longer studs. any shop that works on wheels and brakes should be able to do that.

well, volvo uses volvo wheel studs, I have no idea off the top of my head what thread size they are or how long as I've never needed to change one in a million miles of volvo driving
re: hub cenntering rings, measure the ID of the center hole on the volvo wheel, and on your aftermarket wheel, and note the profile of the inner edge of that hole too. if they are the same, you're probably OK.
I've always stuck with using Volvo wheels, like I put a set of Hydra 16" on my 740 wagon to replace the original 15" Aries, which had two bent rims.
