Default Where are all the good classifieds for these models ??

Turbobricks and this forum seem to have a very dull classified section so I was on craigslist all day. Craigslist had a ton but nobody like to label correctly. ex: Turbo, intercooled, etc etc.

So what are some of the good website for classifieds for these models ??

Thanks.

I picked up mine off craigslist. But that was just be chance, but keep in mind the newest of these models is about 18-20 years old. I'd be interested in classifieds for these models in the future if mine ever gives out though. I haven't come across anywhere that lists volvo-specific classifieds for these.

Well actually, double checking, some were produced up to 98 (940s I think) but for the most part they're kind of on the old side. xD

Try IPD classifieds...TB has mostly molested rwd's...very few are stock. Craigs List is still the broadest arena here in Dallas. Swedespeed has occasional listings but understand...the asking prices will always be higher within Volvo specific forums. The best deals I've run across have been from people who truly don't understand Volvos. Another good source are those people buying 15-25 year old cars for their reputation but having no mechanical aptitude. After a couple of $400 repair bills they almost give the cars away.

The average Volvo is kept for 19.8 years, second to only Mercedes Benz. When people get a good one, its unlikely they'll let go of it.

I found mine on Kijiji. I like to think of it as a more reliable craigslist. You can narrow down area, price, make and model. Keep in mind what Swiftjustice44 said, Try to eyeball people who don't understand the cars, but remember that this might have also led to subpar maintenance.

This is my city but
1983 VOLVO 740 TURBO INTERCOOLED - Edmonton Cars For Sale - Kijiji Edmonton Canada.
That's a half decent ride. 1500 is abit much, I'm sure I could nitpick 500 dollars off of it.

Some of these suggested asking prices make me feel like I overpaid (even though the car itself doesn't make me feel that way. xD)

Prices vary widely on region. The US Pacific NW was the highest density Volvo target when rwd's were new so it only stands to reason they would still be popular and pricey there. Motivated sellers, emotionally and/or financially driven, will drastically affect sale prices. I won't bore folks again with some of the Volvo prices I've paid...but it ain't much.

Found my 240 on Craigslist last October and found my 850 on Auto Trader. One thing I have noticed about the 240s for sale on any of the major sites (CL, Auto Trader, etc), if they are in decent shape, they go really quick.

Found my old 240 station wagon on Craig s list for 400 dollars but got him down to three. Leaked like a #$%# but lasted a year of very hard driving.

Also look at Volvo repair shops. There are a few Volvo only mechanics in this area that sell cars sometimes too. They good thing about buying from them is they can usually tell you what maintenance they have done to the car. They might also know history if they were the primary mechanics for the cars out of warranty life.

I bought mine from Craigslist and I see a lot of 740 and 940's on there. I see a ton of Volvo's in this area on the road and that's probably why I see more for sale.

I found/sold my 940 on craigslist.... sometimes you just stumble into a deal(bought my current 745 turbo from a customer)...

local brick deals:
VOLVO 240 DL; MECHANICALLY SOUND AND INEXPENSIVE
FS/Trade 93 Volvo 960
1995 Volvo 850/ possibly needs a new transmission (if I had the $ and space this'd be @ my house now.... thinkin cv axle he DIDN"T replace)
1996 VOLVO 850

there was a 93 940gl for several months for $1500.... he put his up a day before I listed mine, and he either finally sold it, or got fustrated and removed it...
