Where does this wire go?
Now that I have fixed pretty much everything on my car, I decided to mess with the reverse lights. Found that one of the wires has just come out. Where does it go? Will be nice to have them back on.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Whoops I thought I had attached it. It's the black wire that's just sticking out. The other end is on the forward screw on the side of the "triangle" in there.
Edit: that screw has another black wire running from it which goes around to the shifter indicator light (PRND21).

Its a 244-sedan. No the picture is what I got when I removed the shifter console. The wire I am talking about is sticking up (its tip seems out of focus in the picture) and has its shadow on one of the front screws. It comes out from the sideways screw there (the other one from the screw goes into the shifter console light)
well, its a ground wire. something was grounded there that has been cut off. if I remember right on a 240, thats where a whole lot of stuff in the dashboard gets grounded (on a 740/940, the grounds are on the inside of the fenders on both sides just forward of the front door hinges)
it could be something left over from an old stereo install or something?
lets see, I happen to have a 1992 240 greenbook wiring diagram in front of me. says the center console/gear lever console has a pile of stuff grounded... the ground wires at the gear shifter go up to a couple ground screws behind the dash just above the AC controls, and provide grounds to...
most of this stuff goes to the screws up behind the center dash, but thats tied down to this place.

- overdrive relay
- central locking relay

- power door mirrors
- heated seats

Uhmm I think you are talking about the screw that has like 10 ground wires behind the AC button on the center console.
I am talking about the shifter console that is separate and on the floor

From the list you have there:
All those work. Mine doesnt have the power door mirrors.
The only other possibility that I can see is - the central lock doesnt work perfectly. I can lock and unlock all doors with my keys. From the inside though, I can lock all the doors with the "stick" that sits near the window sill. However, I can keep pulling up on it all day long and it wont unlock any of the other doors. Suggestions?
I also tried to move that "triangle" in the shifter area but no luck. Still dont have back up lights.
