Default Wiring a towbar

I've just fitted a towbar to my Volvo 940 estate (1990). The metalwork is done and I have the wiring kit - where does the wiring go into the car - where is the wiring harness the maker's instructions talks about? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. You need to post your questions in the appropriate forum. You'll get a better response that way.

it would help to know the maker of the tow bar and wiring kit.

I installed 2 of them...well one I did myself and the one on the xc90 I asked the dealership to do it for me since I can't find the time to do it before Nov 3, when I'll need to tow.
The first one I installed following the instructions. It was for an acura integra (97) and inside a plastic panel in the trunk there was a blank plug for a plug-n-play harness. Then to make things simple for myself I simply would plug it in when I needed it and dangle the wiring out the trunk lid. The seals prevent the wires from crushing. It was pretty easy and I towed quite often that way.

The plug on Volvos is usually on the left hand side of the luggage compartment under the floor near to the wing (fender?).

On UK models thereare sockets for all the required lights and also for the fridge and battery charger in the caravan. Unless you have the Volvo kit it is unlikely thatyou will be just plugging in. When Idid my 940 I found out which wires were for what by using a volt meterthen I connected them with scotchlocks. Going in this way does not upset the bulb malfunction unit.
