1989 780 GLE dashboard lights up but won't start
My car is currently parked at the end of logging road - 2 hours off the highway. It went 3 weeks between usage.
When I went to start it on Thursday night, it would not start.
The battery was totally flat.
I then got an attempted jump start off some kayakers in an SUV.
The dashboard would light up but the engine would not fire up, the fan blades at the front of the engine I could see trying to turn round with the hood while, while I sat in the drivers seat.
I took the battery out and hitchhiked back to town.
I charged the battery up and brought it back and reconnected it.
Again, the car would not start, the dashboard lights would come on and the engine blades would turn haltingly but the engine would not turn over.
There is gas in the tank.
Any ideas? Mechanics are a long ways away.
A tow is very expensive.
