1990 Volvo 760 turbo
i bought my first volvo last week and was very excited. but now i feel i made a huge mistake. the only problem that i thought there was, was one bad rear shock. which of course turns out to be a nivomat shock. but my main concerns is that now i notice that when i accelerate the a/c stops blowing. can't tell if it's the fan or compressor and also have a problem that the fuel gauge doen't work most of the time. anyone have experience with these problems. any help will be greatly appreciated.

RE: 1990 Volvo 760 turbo
I bought a '90 760 turbo a couple months ago, but it isn't my first Volvo, not even my first 760.
The problem you describe with your A/C is common. My 760 does it, and my old 760 did it. It's almost always caused by a vacuum leak. The leak can be minor or involve more a more costly fix. You can't really tell until you go through the system. A good detailed amount of info on this subject can be found here (scroll down all the way to the bottom):

One of these days, I'll get around to tracing down the problem on my 760. In the meantime, I ease up on the accelerator as soon as possible. Saves on gas anyway.
Best,
Michael
