Default HELP!! Looking for a fuse box for a 1990 volvo 760 turbo

Hi folks, my car is in the shop. No one can find a part for me. Apparently Volvo stopped making the part and no one carries a fuse box not even a local junkyard. If anyone has any hints or help it would be appreciated!

PickNPull type yards are full of them. Portland North has two 1990 760's right now.

why would the fuse box need replacing?!? short of a major dashboard fire, at most there would be some corrosion, which could be cleaned up with a bit of patience.

p.s. for the unaware, the later model 760s (and 940SE and 960s) have a completely different fuse box than the 740s and non-SE 940's, the fuses are on the drivers door end of the dashboard, while the relays are on the passenger side of the transmission hump. on the 740s and 940s, they are both centralized behind the ashtray.

Pierce, the FUSE BOXES melt... I have seen them in quite sorry states, probably due to people tacking unauthorized extensions onto them.

Default fuse box

[QUOTE=pierce;322279]why would the fuse box need replacing?!? short of a major dashboard fire, at most there would be some corrosion, which could be cleaned up with a bit of patience.

Not sure why it needed replacing. My horn went out, then my power seats. Had a few difficult starts with clicking sound and then trouble turning over. Then one day the car wouldn't start. Just turned and turned.

At first I was told it was a fuel pump, then starter, finally they said the fuel pump shorted out the fuse box. And they can't find a part anywhere. (PEP BOYS __I KNow big mistake having it towed there!)

No junkyards near Tempe Az have any in stock...and the repair shop seems unable to find any fuse boxes. A phone number or web address to any of the places that have a volvo would be nice (but that hasn't guaranteed a fuse box to be found)

I'm walking to PEP tomorrow and hopefully I can get some more answers in person.

Just bought the car a couple of weeks ago, can't say what was done to it, but nothing added to my knowledge. Heck I am thinking it's possible PEP boys blew the fuse trying to hot wire the car to get it started, maybe the power wash I got on the undercarriage did it?? (WE thought there was a big oil leak --none it turns out)

well, if its turning over, the starter is fine. could be fuel or spark.

power seats on those things are their own cans of worms, there's an expensive relay in the circuit, and the seat control panels fritz from too many spilled sodas getting inside, and the motors jam from worn out drive shafts. I just replaced the seats on my sons old 1991 940SE (essentially same car as a 1990 760T) because everything was wrong with them (even if I jumped the switches, the motors still jammed) so I put some worn out manual seats that I'd taken out of my 1992 740T (all 7xx/9xx seats are bolt compatible, you just swap the side trim and seat belts...) so the seats can be moved in this 940SE.

i would like the web or phone number for your pull a part if you have it. I have tried a few places that say they have one, but got nothing from them.

David,

Voluparts | Volvo Parts Warehouse | New, Used, & Rebuilt

These guys are in Atlanta, GA. but most likely have a fuse box. Have you had eyes on the fuse box?

Default Found my fuse box

Thanks for the help on this thread, was able to finally locate a fuse box in PA. 135 dollars for the fuse box and wiring harness shipped. Car seems to run a little nicer since then too! The repair shop forgot to put one of my fuses in place and I thought I had a rear brake light problem, turned out just needed a fuse and the rear brake lights work fine!
