Default 960 camshaft position sensor wiring

Hello. I have a 1996 960 which needs a bit of work as the timing belt walked off the front of the motor , so most will know what that means. My biggest headache is the Camshaft Position Sensor wiring. The 3 pin plug on the CPS side has totally disintegrated from the heat of the motor , so I have 3 pins (green, red and black) but can't find out what they connect with in the plug on the loom side. The wiring colours on the loom side do not match what comes out of the CPS. Can anyone help???

i was driving my s80 t6 last night and all of a sudden it started shaking and check engine light started flashing. I thought i was out of fluids but i wasn't. I am suspecting the misfiring could have been caused by plugs or something. Anybody ever had this problem before?

Welcome both of you to Volvo Forums.

@VolvoHead1: That is a total bummer. I definitely know what pain you are in right now. Unfortunately, I am not sure which wire is which in the harness. You may get better luck if you post in the 960 fourm.

@JoeMutiger: There has definitely been a few people with that issue before. Check the codes in the computer and let us know what they are. That is the best way to know for user what is really causing your issue.
