Default 960 check engine light reset

Hi all! I am new to this forum, just want to say hello to everyone. My name is Alex, living in Vancouver BC Canada, I have been working in the automotive for 15 years. Long story short, I ran into a problem here. I worked on a 93' 960 last week end, the arrow light flashes on the dash, I have scanned the OBD1 self test and found the problem to be the gear selector switch. Replaced the switch, reset the transmission code according to my mitchell on demand manual, the light went off. After I roadtest the vehicle, the check engine light came on, then I turned off the engine and restarted it, now the SRS light stays solid. I also notice that none of the lights are on when I turn the key to ignition position. I try to reset the light following the instruction http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-90...neOBDCodes.htm but no luck. Any idea? Thanks in advance!

See if this helps anymore. I always hold the button down like 8 seconds.

Also if it doesn't clear it might be a permanant fault.

It always take me 2 to 3 times to get the codes to clear.

Thanks for the quick reply. I spent a bit more time on the car today and it turned out to be the alternator, when the SRS and check engine light came on, I measure the charging system and it was 11.7 Volts, not charging at all. After work I started the car up, all the lights went normal and I check the charging system again, it was puttting out 14.7 Volts. It doesn't do it all the time but I can reproduce, should I expect a faulty alternator? Thanks again!

How do I reset the CEL on a 97 S90? The original code was PO103 so I replaced the MAF but the light remains on. I do not have a code reader so I am hoping I can reset with a paper clip or something similar.

You can go to Autozone to reset the ECU for free. Or you can build your own Code Reader -- see instructions on the Sticky.
