Just installed a good used 94 motor with 100k miles. loud ticking from top of motor near injectors, possible sticky lifter?

my long term mechanic said all 6 fire at the same time. that would mean 3 squirts per revolution and 1/3 the mileage I was thinking... what's with that? not SFI?

I have a loud ticking at idle that increases with rpm. he says it is the injectors on a 100k motor and is normal. I unplugged each one at a time and no change in ticking.

injector cleaner did nothing, a little oil cleaner/lube additive did nothing. motor runs smooth. mileage not as good as last motor 23 vs 26 mpg.

thanks for your thoughts or advice on the injector firing process.

 

It might be a lifter drive it for a little while and see if it gets quiet.

The injectors fire 135 and 246 there is a controller on each side of the intake for it.
