I just recently bought a 97 960 for a preety good deal. Minor front end accident.

The car is up and running now but i working threw a OBD2 code. P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction.

Now the tranny lights are flashing, abs and check engine light is on and speedometer is not working.

So i replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor located in the rear of the differential. After this the speedo still didnt work
and after about 10 mins the tranny and check engine light returned.

I also cleaned both front wheel abs sensors from all brake dust.

Any clues what to look for next?

 

Was the wiring all good for the Rear sensor?

 

The 3-4 inches of it i could see looked okay. Its kind of a real tight squeez getting that sensor in and out.
Im now regreting not checking it first.

What sort of signal should i be looking for 1 positive and 1 negetive.
Also should the car be on or running?

Okay i figured it out guys.

The wiring for the rear speed sensor was broken by the transformer in the trunk. All fixed all problems solved.
