Check Engine light code 315
Hi, there:
Recently, theengine light of my Volvo 960 (1997) unfortunately turns on. I brought it to a shop and they told me the code 315 indicates something wrong with the EVAP valve and told me to replace it. But some people say the code doesn't mean anything if there is a real leakage in theevaporativesystem which will becostly to repair. Is it worthwhile to repair the leakage? How bad it will be if I just leave it alone?
Thanks
Robert

RE: Check Engine light code 315
I always stop the engine and fuel it. But I don't know whether previous owners fueled the car with the engine running.
Originally, I also thought it a bad fuel cap at the beginning. I changed the cap to the OEM one, but the engine light came back three weeks later. Sometimes, when the car is idling statically, I could feel a smell of gas after I opened the door. What could be the problem?
Thanks
Robert
