Is it normal for the heat to not come out of the dash in a 1983 760. Only cold air will come out of my dash right now. The car still gets warm and the auto climate functions but it only comes out of floor(it think) and the defrosters.

Check for a small hose that comes out of the firewall and it goes to the heater control Valve and the Vent system.
Either you have a hole in the line or the one way valve is bad.

 

I'm getting heat though just not through....since the vents are vacuum controlled and they open for the AC why would they not open for the heater?

 

They are different systems.

Make sure you check the heater control valve vaccum line.
