Default no..... my Volvo died……….. please help……

Hi, I have a volvo 760, great car, but its died. It will not start it will turn over. I grounded a plug on the block and could see a spark. With the spark plug out the there was a bit of sweet sweet gas smell. I took off a fuel like, thought it was the fuel send line. Well it wasn’t and fuel puked out on the front of the motor. Anyway looks like the fuel pump works and there’s spark…… I really have no idea what is causing the car not to start. Is there some relay I am completely un aware of..???????? Please help any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My wild guess would be the cam shaft position indicatior. But you can wait on the pros to chime in.

Is there a way I can tell if this thing works? Do these things go on Volvo’s often?

I don't know if there is a way to check them. They don't even throw codes on newer cars. I had neaver heard of them until one went out on a 2004 Jeep I had.
