when looking for a 960, remember that these motors or much different than the 740,240 and 940 motors. the 6 series motors are know as "the white motor" because it is mostly aluminum block and head, be very careful with purchasing a high mileage 960, i owned a 1995 960 and the head gasket was shot and it had only about 115k on it. i have also seen other 960 with the same head gasket issue one with about 85k on it also witch is pretty low mileage for a volvo, just be careful because that head gasket is a very common problem and is not an easy job, i believe standard book time is about 12-13 hours to replace the head gasket, make sure to check the combustion gasses before purchasing any 6 series volvo
