Timing belt tensioner broke on '96 960
Car has been running great, 213k. A few months ago, I put a new timing belt kit on it as I had been pushing my luck on mileage on the old one.
Well, yesterday, just around the corner from the house, tensioner broke, timing belt came loose, collided valves, cranks over without a hint of compression.
Contemplating calling the junkyard & have it hauled off, pull the head to see the damage to it or find a head in the junkyard & put it on.
The car ran/drove great up to this point.
I guess I'm looking for opinions/thoughts.
Thanks,

Sux, I read thru your thread after I posted mine. I didn't watch the videos yet. We are probably buying an '05 Chevy Avalanche tomorrow. I might look at fixing the head as my oldest step-daughter will be getting her license in the next year (she likes the Volvo).
