Default 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon

On my 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon (non-turbo) the transmission fluid dipstick tube needs to be repaired. Is this an easy fix? Does anyone have instructions on making the repair?

We are having fun at your expense but you have to remember we don't know what you drive, we don't know the color, we don't know if you're trying to add power steering fluid into the gas tank (saw a guy do it!!!) or what problem you have unless you are a bit more descriptive.

We really can be helpful, if you give us a chance (well, some of us can)

Come on... Transmission dip stick? It's a piece of plastic. If it's broke, pull it out and insert another. Bring it by my house and I'll do it for you. Kinda like the person that wants to know why her computer stopped working wirelessly, still needs to be plugged in to charge the battery.

You don't repair a dip stick, it's either broke or missing or fine. Broke or missing, get another one and slide it in. If there is something else going on, it really needs to be explained. Really Sir!?

To be more specific: It is a 1996 Volvo 850 Wagon (non-turbo). The problem is a cracked transmission fluid dipstick tube/pipe, you know the metal piping in which the dipstick sits. It is cracked and leaking fluid. I just want to know if it is easy to replace this tube/pipe and where I can find the piece. I looked on FCP groton and found no such part.

Now that makes sense. The tube is held in place with one bolt. Take the bolt out and pull the tube out. Slide another one in and tighten the bolt. Usually people replace the seal at the bottom of it as well. I suggest you get it from the junk yard. It will be easier to get the 1 bolt out if you remove the battery and battery trey, you'll be looking right at it. However, it may be possible to get it out easy without taking the battery out.

Thanks for coming back and explaining yourself. Really drives us (people that want to help) when someone comes to the site, leave a vuage statement, then never returns. Thus the crazy face.

The tube is replaceable without too much trouble. One nut holds it in place and you'd be best off replacing the "O" ring at the bottom.
