Default 1997 T5 Lifter Tick

Hi all, I recently bought a T5 with about 132k on it. Compression was tested and was good. PCV system was clogged so had a Volvo mechanic replace it all and change oil. I did a couple light MMO flushes, then changed oil with Royal Purple 15w40 ($5 @ Autozone.) and a Mann filter.

After about a month, I notice ONE lifter tick from the center that's there even when warm. Has been ticking for a week now.

I'm thinking maybe oil pump/pan seals. Maybe the thick oil knocked some crud loose into the filter?

What do you guys think?

why the thick oil? Yes the MMO treatment could have loosened up some sludge into the filter. What did you mean by "maybe oil pump/pan seals"? If you suspect low oil pressure you should try and measure with a gauge.

Chicago summers tend to be hot so decided I'd rather have thicker than thinner oil.

My oil pressure light hasn't turned on or started blinking either. Is there a sticky on how to hook up a true oil pressure gauge?

My bet is you'd need to remove the oil pressure sensor used for the light and insert a pressure tester that matches to the sensor's port size.
