About a 6 or 8 months ago the electric door locks on my 1994 850 started to sporadically not work. that is, sometimes when I push down the manual lock, all doors lock like they should and sometimes when I do the same, no others lock. Same thing with unlocking. I manually unlock one door and sometime they all unlock, and sometimes only the one unlocks.

I get the same behavior with the remote as I do with the manual locking. so I think its not related to the remote which seems to be working. (or at least it works sometimes).



I bought this 850 new and it currently has 180K miles on it. The door locks and alarm are original and all volvo (i.e. no aftermarket alarm system).


It's odd because one day they work fine, the next day they don't. Any suggestions on how I could track down this problem?

 

You can get the manual but it's a hard system to figure out. Sounds to me like a relay is going out. The price is about $110.

 

Did you ever get your electric lock problem fixed. I have a 1991, 240 and having the same problem. Do you know where the relay switch is or how to replace it.
