HOLY MESS!!! Haha, how was it?
P.S. How about the leather E-brake handle on the T5-R? I'd might be interested in that.
P.S.S. My stuff is supposed to be here on Monday, so thanks for the quick shipping. If anyone buys stuff from him expect a speedy delivery.
P.S.S.S. Now that I look at your pictures, I may be interested in more. I am going to send you an email.

Good job!!! Glad to see there are other brave people out there. I took out the engine on my 850 awhile ago to replace the clutch. I'm not as young as I used to be and the less time I spend under the car, the better.
Have a couple of questions for you:
Noticed in your first pic that the drive shaft is still connected to the axle. How did you get the driveshaft out of the tranny? Same for the other side?
Did you run into any issues by leaving the rad in? I removed the whole assembly as well as the core support. Didn't like the idea of having to lift the engine any higher than necessary.
One last item: More pictures and keep us updated; especially with any difficulties you encounter.
Wish I lived in warmer climate so that I could work on my toys all year round!

The transaxles pop out, they are held in with clips and only need a small pry to release them. Same for putting them back in. Wiggle as you slide, eventually they popped back in place.
Since the hoods can go vertical it was not too bad with the radiator mounted. I unbolted one car but did not on the other. The engine did have to have a bit of a rake to it. High side on the engine front dropping the trans in first. I left the motor mounts on the engine.
Its scary lifting the engine high, I agree. No sudden movements and I was very cautious. I did this without any help so everything went turtle slow but it all worked out.

Finished today. Now its clean up time....ugghh.
I would like to say its all over but when driving the car about two blocks away it died and now does not run right. It was doing just fine then as I came to a stop it started sputtering and died. I can keep it running if I feather the throttle but will be looking for advice soon.

No kidding. First I got the note on the door then Tuesday I got a personal visit. The Officers wanted to know if I was running a business. I said nope, just trying to get the family car running. The laughed and understood. I am just wondering which neighbor called...makes me sad thinking about it because I have done work on their cars for every one of them now and then and for free. They all knew my issue as I openly talk with them.
Funny thing was one of the officers wanted to know if I fix Volvos because she had two. I should have said yes but deep inside I felt it was a setup to see if I was working on them. I said no, I only work on my own cars.

I am not sure I answered this question correctly. To remove the transaxles I released the pins for the lower control A arms. That allowed me to pull the hubs far enough out to completely clear the trans.

I have 5 Volvo wagons along with about 6 other cars in my driveway. I get a call from the zoning guy every few months asking similar isht. "No, I'm not running a repair business, I have 5 drivers with 5 jobs living here. There are only 3 unregistered ones, so I'm under the limit." Now go bother my neighbor up the street who has a wooden bunker around his stockpiled yard full of crap.
