Which 850 to keep
 

Hey Everybody,

Well i am picking up another 855 turbo for a crazy good price. My dilemma now is which 855 do i keep. I currently have a Nordic Blue 855 glt with 158k. I love the car and overall it's in great shape. The interior is really clean and the exterior is not bad as well. The engine is knocking so if i keep i will replace the motor with the motor from the other 855.

The second car is a 1996 855 turbo wagon. It's black with tan leather and has 160k. It's very simular to mine interior wise,except it has a trip computer. The transmission is messed up in it so if i keep this one my trans will be coming out of my nordic blue 855. So i guess i am just asking what would you guys do? Which one should i make fully operational again lol

you are gonna have a MUCH easier time swapping a transmission from the GLT into the turbo than you will putting a turbo motor in the 855. When you swap the transmission, all you have to swap over is the tranny itself. If you do a motor swap, you'll have to change the motor, dash, ECU, wiring harness, etc.

I presume they are both automatics correct? since the motor is knocking in the GLT i would go with the turbo, once you've gone turbo you don't wanna go back, haha

I'm pretty sure (OK, I'm guessing) the motor swap wouldn't require all that - since the GLT is a '97, it already has an LPT in it. Maybe just have to swap the ECU?

I'm sure that the '96 is much more fun to drive than the GLT, simply because of the larger turbo. Do you plan on using one of them as a parts car for the other?

By the by; what's with the different wheels on the Turbo?

You would be correct sir. Car already has t5 ecu and white tops. I would be swapping motor turbo and all and the guy was test fittin rims has a full ser of columbas on it now
