850 p/s pump replacement problem, need help
Hi, I would appreciate your opinion/advice on the following:
I had to replace the power steering pump on my Volvo 850, t5, 96.
To get a pump I ordered used one from erievovo.com -
Genuine OEM Used Volvo Parts with Lifetime Warranty V70,S60,S80,XC90,850+,
mostly because it comes already with the pulley and reservoir.
The part came quick as expected, based on the order printout it came from Volvo, 850, 93.
So I took the old steering pump out without any issues, but comparing my pump with the pump that came from erievovo, I noticed one small but important difference - the pressure port (pump output) internal threads are turned 180 degrees vs my old pump.
In other word, when I connect the replacement pump with the old metal pressure line that goes from the pump to the steering, I can not bolt the pump in place, because of the wrong orientation of that metal line that goes out of the pump.
So what is wrong with the part or with me?
To connect the pump to the metal line I inserted the line with the new washer into the pump port and carefully turn the pump about 3 times around the line until the tight fit, but it looks like I need additional 1/2 turn to have the line in place oriented exactly like it was with the original pump, but I can not do it, it is already tight,
I checked with the old washer - no difference, checked the old pump with the new washer - perfect fit, the replacement pump output port just have the treads turned 1/2 turn vs my original pump.
Any suggestions?
The part number on replacement seems the same as on my pump. Is it possible it came from the right side drive 850?
