Default 850 Replace hatchback window trim

Hey 850 wagon folks- on our wagon hatchbacks, there is a metal coated trim strip on the top and bottom of the glass. both are bent and the bottom one leaves rusty streaks on the white paint. To replace those, do they just slide out to one side or are they held in there somehow- would I need to dissasemble the glass from the frame? Thanks! Dave

They can slide out the side, but takes some gentle persuasion.

I removed mine completely and filled it in with black silicone caulk. Getting it out involved a LOT More than "gentle persuasion" and was more like a giant pain in my rear end. It involved pliers, picks, and about 3 hours of pulling...

ibi- Well the top one came out easy-peasy. the bottom one, well it started raining and I was getting wet so I came inside. I'm curious how the black caulk looks- never thought of that trick. I know that one won't rust. D

I took mine out and just left it that way. I might purchase a new one one day.

You've got me thinking, what about a length of black vinyl hose, maybe plug the ends somehow. cut to length and push it into that metal / glass slot. Might work well.

Guess i could just leave them off, it's not really a weather seal, right? cheaper that way...D
