hi i just got a 1996 volvo 850 from my aunt they never did a trans service so when i got it it drove for a bit then neutralized when it got hot its been doing that ever since. moves when cold neutralizes when hot . i changed the fuid it was black and thick i checked for particles and metallic pieces nothing magnet also clean . i put scanner on car no codes . PLEASE HELP ME

Hmmm, often generic scanners will not pick up Volvo specific transmission codes. Do you ever get a flashing arrow while driving? Does the car drive if you shift it in 3 or L?

 

no there is no flashing light and it neutralizes in every shift position . please help me

 

Did you have the problem with it slipping when hot before you did the flush ??

What method did you use to flush it and who did it ??

Are you checking the fluid level according to the Volvo instructions ??

 

yes the problem was there and it seemed it got worst after . it was actually a drain and fill not a flush . I did the drain and fill and all the checks . i am a technician but i have never really dealt with volvos besides routine maintenance
