850 Turbo Wagon -

I can tell you this, I LOVE MY 850 PLat. I bought mine a year and a half ago with 100,000 miles and a few items that needed repair for a grand more than what you are looking at. At the time the car booked around $7k. I think your price is fair. You have asked the right questions, especially about the service of the timing belts, etc.
Post some pics when you can. ALso, some of these cars I think had fog lights. Mine doesn't.

A guy I work with had a sedan that his son drove. It was totaled and he got $6,500 from the insurance company for the car because it was a rare breed.
It will have white Opel paint. It should also have the rims in silver like the pic below. It should also have pretty much every option volvo offered for that year.

What are your thoughts on this one?

168,000 miles though...that's the only downside. If it had around 100k I would probably buy it...thoughts???

How can I find out if it is really the Platinum Limited Edition? I did get a carfax from the dealer via fax but it only says 1996 Volvo 850 station wagon 2.4L L5 FI DOHC
Front wheel drive.

Tech is spot on. The Platinum should have the "R" lower frontvalence and round fogs. It should be opalescent metallic white, and it should have the Persus wheels.
It is hard to describe the color since it changes with the ambient light.
Here are a couple of pictures of mine:

That is a screwup on carfax. The VIN "57" says that the car has a 2.3 liter Turbo.

You are(Of course) right. The valence on my Platinum was much different than that ones on my other plain'o 850s and I didn't notice the lip at the bottom on the R and I figured it was the same.
