Hello everyone, so here it is,

I have been driving a 97 850R and loving it...then the first really cold snap of the year (-40 Celsius) and the car starts and idles fine but no power. The first time this happened the car would not go over 80 km/h and RPM's would not go over 2000 maybe 2500. Then over the next few days, my top speed rapidly decreased, now it only will go about 20km/h and still, it starts and idles fine.

sounds like a fuel pressure issue at volume - has the car been in a warm garage since the cold snap? You'd need to meaure the fuel pressure via a gauge connecting to the valve on the fuel rail to see if it can maintain 40-45 PSI. Things in play are the pump, filter, relay, pressure regulator, fuel quality (ie water in fuel?)

 

Is it also stumbling or stuttering when trying to accelerate? Could be a boost leak. Check intercooler piping and connecctions.
