93 850 GLT CAT and O2
Okay after failing smog horribly, I have to decide wether or not I should take it in to Volvo for a diagnostic. They want 130-150.00. The ecu is'nt showing any faults and wether or not Volvo finds the problem I get nailed for 150 bucks. I don't mind doing the work, but I need to be sure that either my O2 is bad or the cat is bad. Any ideas?

I drive a 94 Turbo but the diagnostic socket placement is the same as the 93s. I think you can use socket A2 to check the codes. (A6 is for ignition for the Fenix sys.) and then verify if they're repeating.

Have you also check all the vacuum connections and possibly a plugged flame-trap?? it would be likely to say the O2s are faulty if they haven't been changed since new.... but the cat? i doubt it.

when i bought my 94 wagon used i had to replace both O2s to past the emission but ended up only the downstream one is at fault. and one vacuum fitting was borken on mine... so hopefully u can locate the problem indeed
