94 850 NA starts but idle falls immediately and dies

So this morning in around 44ºF my 94 NA would start but the idle would immediately drop and the car would die. It did this a few times until I held the revs up to 2k for a few minutes. Even when I was holding it at 2k it was still running rough for a few minutes then it began to idle normal. This afternoon in around 65ºF it did the same thing and after repeating the method above it ran fine. This is my first cold season driving the car here since I bought it. I know the preheat hose needs to be replaced but I've heard that shouldn't be the problem. The other possible culprit that I can think of is the engine temp sensor which has been replaced 3 times with used ones and the last time it went bad the car wouldn't start at all so I don't know what else could be the problem. I leave for school at 6:40 every morning and the car is already loud normal so I don't want to wake up all my neighbors with me revving my car up to 2k for 5 or so minutes. I know there might be another thread like this but I didn't find one that is closely related to my issue. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

I think it would be a good idea to clean the idle air control valve and throttle body. You can do this for the price of cleaner and a $2 gasket on the throttle body and it'sossible I that it will fix your problem. Also does it have a check engine light on? Your car has an on board diagnostic system that you can pull codes from.
