95 850 not boosting past 5psi loose ptc grommet
my 95 850 is not boosting past 5psi, and it seems i have a rather loose ptc grommet, since that is past the maf and if its sucking in extra air, do you think that could cause it not to boost past 5 because the a/f is slightly off due to the little bit of xtra air?
It is possible. Also check all your intercooler hoses.
already checked the hoses, its kind of sporadic, though the ptc is barely staying in i need a new grommet,
You are better off replacing the entire hose. Try to find a good used one. Not sure if you can get a grommet seperate
well it seemed my loose ptc grommet was the cause i fixed and shoved it back in the hole with some rtv for now, and it runs like a champ again
Glad all is good now.
it was ok now its doing it again, i cant detect an leaks in the IC or around the ptc, is it possible the spring for the wastegate is going..?
Maybe but if it was not working at all then you would have full boost.
Also check where the waste gate arm attaches. If the arm it attaches to is raised any that might be your problem. |
what do you mean by raised? and how would this come out of the blue?

They will slightly move over time and then do this.
Attachment 20624 Where the red arrow is pointing is where you need to check. You can also see in the pic when it is raised like that it does not seal. |

if that is the case how to i remedy it?

IAC hoses look ok, i actually just replaced the upper IAC hose and the lower seems ok, i plan to upgrade those as well when i can, will let you know on the wastegate arm
well today it missed a few times, can a failing camshaft positioning sensor cause this..?
Usually not. All tune up stuff new?
yeah new oem bosch wires cap rotor, autolite platinum Iridium plugs, and the wastegate arm is fine im going to go thru all the lines again tonight
