95 850 Turbo 2.3l REAR SWAY BAR
The local Volvo dealer pointed out a broken rear sway bar during my last visit.
THe tech manual and other places I searched do not CLEARLY describe how to
remove and replace it. Some diagrams or pictures would be most helpful.
Also, is it wise to attempt and weld the broken piece or just purchas a new
one.
Thanks.

I suggest you just upgrade to the IPD sway bars if you got the money. Best suspension investment you will ever make.
However it doesn't seem wise to weld the old broken one.

Are you sure you actually broke the swaybar and not a swaybar link? Even a small swaybar would be 6-10mm tensile steel. The links are made to break prior to enough tension on the bar breaking the bar. I would be extremely surprised if you could break a swaybar without being a crash. - AB
Don't even think about welding a sway bar............there is a torsional twist that is the basis for the bar to work in the first place and welding it (if it would even weld half way decent) would throw off the whole purpose of the bar and you would not be too happy with the result. Some sway bars are hollow to save unsprung weight and I simply cannot imagine anyone attempting to weld a bar!
