Default 95 850 turbo cooling fan doesnt come on at all

hi i m a new member i have a 95 850 turbo my girlfriend was at the gas station and left the car running ended up pushing coolant out of the over flow cause it got a little hot ends up the fan didnt come on i ended up running it diret to the battery for the time being. found out the red wire on the passenger side by the relay rubbed through on the dipstick i put a new relay in but it still doesnt work what else could it be if anyone could help i would appreciate it thank you

So, you replaced the fan relay and it still doesn't come on? But when you run direct power to the fan, it turns on?

yes and the temp gauge in the car works fine

The car has to reach a certain temp to cause the fan to come on. Maybe that temp has not been reached. You can turn the AC on and the AC will come on then the fan about 10 seconds later. You did repair the shorted wire?

The fan wire has a fusible link and if it shorted out there is a good chance that the fusible link blew. Check for battery voltage at the connector (for the single red wire) that goes to the fan relay. If you have no battery voltage there the link is likely blown.

I have actually never had a fusible link blow so I don't know if you can buy a replacement and splice it in or not. The cleanest method is to replace the wire with an OEM replacement that has the same link.

thank you all ill have to check the fusible link in the red wire i didnt no if it was fusible so i figured id ask before i tore it apart
