95 850 Turbo whistle/whine
Hey guys today I heard my 850's turbo whine after I parked the it in the garage, while driving I don't hear it at all I only hear it after I turn the car off. Is this something I'm suppose to be worried about?
Maybe this will help. I've see post about a post shut off whine before. Maybe you can turn your ac switch off next time you drive and see if you hear it then.

l think what RSPI is trying to tell is the radiator fan. when you turn the ac on, the Fan runs.
When I read that post, I thought the poster was hearing the hiss as he walked away from the car.
When I find the other thread I'll post a link to it. I believe it was in the S70 section.

yeah my fan keeps running for a second or two after shutting the car off but in this case its not the fan..
thanks, could it be a bad turbo bearing? is it common for these cars to have bad turbo bearings at some point? my car is completely stock and I haven't fiddled with the turbo at any point of owning it
The turbo turns with air flow, which stops when the car is turned off. I doubt it has anything to do with the turbo. The most common clue that the turbo shaft bearings are bad is that it will smoke and preform poorly.
Pop the hood next time you stop the car, then turn it off and listen around the engine bay for the sound. You may also record and post it on YouTube or somewhere for us to hear.

Depends on what it is. Have it idling and reach in and shut it off so you can stick your head under the hood right after you turn it off. See if you can pinpoint where it's coming from and for how long after the ignition is switched off does it continue.

alright I'll try your method thanks
sorry guys it turns out that you could also hear it when you give it a little gas and let go, i'll make another video though
I can hear what you're talking about but I'm at a loss to try and point you towards it.
I can only think it's something with the turbo because it's the only thing that's spinning down after you shut off the engine.
Can you get anyone to help you try to pin the sounds location down some ??
You should try to take off the intake tube so you can (gently) physically get your fingers on the baldes and see if there is any shaft play.

I don't understand you question about your mpg. There is a instant setting and average reading. The average reading is at 11:00 position and will not change much from day to day unless you reset it before you drive. If you are getting 11 mpg you have a serious problem and need to read the thread about gas mileage. You would have to have a gas leak, brake drag, or some serious tune problem.
