Hi guys, new here. Joined out of desperation, I've got way too much time invested in finding a solution to this propblem.

Fan is not working automatically with relay. Fan sometimes turns on at first warm up, sometimes it turns on with AC, then once it comes on, it quits working all together after a few minutes of operation. If I run direct power to it, fan works just fine.

I replaced fan, fan relay 5 times!!!, coolant temp sensor, radiator, thermostat, water pump, timing belt.

I hear the fan relay clicking and clicking as it reaches operating temps, but the fan doesn't turn on. It dawned on me at this point that it must be a grounding problem somewhere in the system. So I put a grounding wire to the fan ground, not disconnecting the ground from fan to engine hareness, just splicing in a ground cable into existing ground. And the fan turns on automatically with the fan relay.

My question is, anyone know where the grounding points are in this thing? and How many of you have run into this problem?

I know this has got to be a common problem with this model as I found a few at the junk yard that had the fan wired directly or to a switch.

 

Anyone? I don't think this is an isolated issue with this model. I just would like some feed back.
