I just got a 96 850 wagon for my 16th birthday and the precious owner lost the original dipstick and made one himself, im not sure if its the correct length so I was wondering if anyone who has an OEM one could give me the measurements so I can check. thanks for the help!

 

You should probably ensure that any dipstick you find is compatible with your particular engine and oil pan. You didn't say whether you have a turbo or not. This site lists the length of the dipstick for the turbo model: 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo - Engine Oil Dipstick - 850 - Genuine Volvo 1271920

Their fitment guide suggests that even though the engines are different, the listed dipstick will fit both turbo and non-turbo. So, you could perhaps use their dimension. They also have some other fitment notes.
