Default '96 850R Wheels???

I want to replace the original 17" wheels on my 850R with smaller wheels. I am looking for economical rims (and tires) so that I can stop buying tires every 12 months. 1) Can I put 16" rims on the car and 2) Who sells regular rims and not the "eye-candy" that costs $250/rim?

Thanks

16's will fit but throw the speedo off some.

Try looking on E-bay and try to find a set of Turbo rims.

Original 850 wheel and tire sizes are...

850 GLT - 195/65/R15 on 15x6.5 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset
850 Turbo - 205/55/R16 on 16x6.5 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset
850 R - 205/45/R17 on 17x7 with 5x108mm bolt pattern with 43mm offset

When you have the chance, take a peek at the back side of your factory wheels. This info is cast into the wheel.

I will be putting 205/60/R15 on 15x6.5 from 2002 S60 within the next two weeks.

Formula for calculating tire diamter
Height = (Width x (Ratio/100) x .03937 x 2) + Rim Diameter

(205 x (45/100) x .03937 x 2) + 17 = 7.263765 + 17 = 24.263765
(205 x (55/100) x .03937 x 2) + 16 = 8.877935 + 16 = 24.877935
(195 x (65/100) x .03937 x 2) + 15 = 9.980295 + 15 = 24.980295

(195 x (60/100) x .03937 x 2) + 15 = 9.21258 + 15 = 24.21258
(205 x (60/100) x .03937 x 2) + 15 = 9.68502 + 15 = 24.68502
(215 x (60/100) x .03937 x 2) + 15 = 10.15746 + 15 = 25.15746

205/50-16 is also an OEM size for an 850 Turbo. fyi...I have heard of rubbing problems when running 205/55-16s on an 850 if it has the R suspension. This would pose a problem for erich46.
