96 854t timing issue..

ok so i just got my block back from the machine shop
put the new H-Beams and new pistons in put the motor back together
drop it inthe bay
make sure everythings ok before starting numerous times
but when i cranked it
aleready i could tell it was misfiring
check the wires and distributer all in the correct order
so i redo the timing once more
Cylinder #1 TDC
made sure everything was perfect
put the tensioner on
........
:confused::confused::confused::confused:
Start it
:eek::eek::eek::eek:
still misfiring
im stuck on this one any help?
thanks for all help.

Have do done the compression check? - valve might be stuck or bad?
All injector connectors connected?
MAF sensor connector?

CEL light? - any codes?

T3AMVOLVO720 02-03-2009 02:54 PM

did a compression test they are all in range
all injectors are good and plugged in
MAF sensor is connected
all valves are good anything else you can think of?
is there a special way to do reset the timing?
cams wise?

TIPSP 02-03-2009 03:50 PM

I know that QBM has an adjustment cam tool (Click Here)
It is ~$60, but it has been out of stock for a long time now.

thanks
i just want to know if im doing the timing right..
for the cams no specific spot? as long as its pointed toward the two 90degree cutouts
for me i did both pointed right in the corner on both sides
crank pulley directly meeting the groove from the oil pump right?

tech 02-03-2009 08:31 PM

As long as all of the timing marks are lined up it should all be right.

Are all the ignition parts new? Maybe cap cracked which cylinder is misfiring?

How are you determining your spark plug wire positions on the distributor? Haynes is dead wrong as is the '95 OEM Volvo Manual.

This is correct:

yes all new
MSD Blaster SS coil pack
MSD Custom Wires
MSD 6AL Box
Brand new Distributer Cap

Cylinder #2 is misfiring
tried other wires still misfiring

Almost as if it isnt getting no spark at all
its the cleanest one
but i pull it out
put a plug in its and its got sparkk

thanks lee but thats the order im using
like i have everything in order and perfect but its still
not firing right..

tech 02-04-2009 09:15 PM

Just because the part is new doesn't always mean its good.
If you stick a plug in the wire #2 after pulling it out of the head and you have no spark either the wire is bad or the cap is bad.

T3AMVOLVO720 02-04-2009 10:23 PM

They are all good been over checking everything since the day of the misfire

took number 2(no detonation) msd plugged it and check yes i got alot of spark
tried a volvo wire with the boot yes still spark but not as much because lack of size of wire
but when i put it in the head it comes out the cleanest
looking brand new
theyre all gapped correctly too.
:confused::confused::confused:

Swap the injector on #2 with any other cylinder and see if the problem gets passed on.

tech 02-05-2009 08:22 PM

Compression good in that cylinder?

T3AMVOLVO720 02-06-2009 12:23 PM

compression is good in all cylinders
already tried the injector switch
but i got 2 extra sets of em
ill try the second set and then the blue ones
how much psi is suppost to come out of the fuel rail?

TIPSP 02-06-2009 01:57 PM

From VADIS:
210-380 kPa (30.5 - 55 PSI) (2.1 - 3.8 bar) during driving
300 kPa (43.5 PSI) (3 bar) IGN2
